A learning environment like no other
The learning environment at Mind’s Eye is curated to bring out the best in every child. It aims to generate a learning curiosity while focusing on the overall development of a child. Our centres are devoid of the regular desks and chairs, only to welcome more hands-on learning on chowkies or even the floor. Each corner of our activity centre celebrates the art and work created by our very own students.
A collaborative learning environment
It is common to see students of different ages working together. Older students enjoy mentoring their younger classmates—sometimes the best teacher is someone who has recently mastered the task at hand. Younger students look up to their big "brothers" and "sisters," and get a preview of the alluring work to come.
A new day every day
At our activity centre, each child is always engaged in an activity of their choice - be it counting beads, working together on a puzzle, or learning a new language. Our classrooms provide an environment where children fulfil their natural curiosity about the world around them.
Organized learning aid
Each child gets the freedom to choose what they wish to learn. All their learning aids are organised on easily accessible shelves, fostering independence as they do their work. Students work together as masters of their environment. They learn to care for their classroom, maintain order and ensure everything is back in its place.
Exciting outdoor adventures
We recognise that learning is not limited to the four walls of a classroom. Hence, we take our children on periodic excursions. It allows them to explore the world, discover new things and learn in different environments.
Language
Language is learnt orally, while a teacher aids children to develop their writing skills. At Mind’s Eye, letters are introduced by phonetic sounds rather than letter names. They are introduced in an order that allows the child to make many words with the letters they learn. We use additional activity tools that enable children to use their touch and motor skills to pursue their interests in writing and reading.
We practise verbal integration in all subject areas for the total development of language, from listening to stories, verbally expressing experiences and creative writing. The child learns to read by developing awareness of sound isolation and through the use of the Montessori phonetic language system.
Arithmetic
Mathematics in our classroom can be separated into a few major categories: counting, decimal system and the operations of addition, multiplication, subtraction and division.
Arithmetic concepts are presented in a very concrete way so that children can count, skip count, square numbers and work with numbers in the thousands. Once the child has a firm foundation in the operations of addition, multiplication, subtraction and division, memorization of facts is introduced.
